This walnut slab bench offers a Modern Hawaiian style, perfect for homes that value contemporary and organic design. We use a Walnut slab set inside a matching Walnut frame, creating a warm and cohesive piece.

Product Details & Dimensions

Over the years, our team has collected a variety of slabs for different furniture pieces, starting in Maui when co-founders Holly and Raja volunteered with local nonprofit LOILOA. The organization salvaged lumber to use for community workshops, but from time to time, didn’t need smaller slabs like the ones we were able to collect and use in the Monkeypod Beau Bench.

We’ve since expanded the Beau Bench variations to include Walnut slabs sourced in California.

A Modern Hawaiian Take on a Walnut Slab Bench

Typically, wood slab pieces are incorporated as rustic design elements in dining tables, benches, barn doors, shelves, and more. With the Beau Bench, we wanted to challenge that typical rustic association and offer a Modern Hawaiian take on a small slab bench. 

To us, Modern Hawaiian means celebrating natural elements and curating them intentionally. Our earlier versions of the Beau Bench paired Maui Monkeypod slabs with wood legs made from blackened White Ash. With the Walnut versions, we use California-sourced Walnut slabs and standard dimensional lumber for the legs, creating a cohesive piece that celebrates the wood’s natural grain and warm tones.

Durable Construction & Home-Healthy Design 

The Beau Bench legs are crafted for durability using mortise-and-tenon joinery, and we place each slab within them to create a unique style evoking a jewel setting. Check the product variants to see which designs are flush or overset. 

Our benches are fully sanded and finished with home-healthy, VOC-free hardwax oil for indoor use. The result is a piece that’s just as comfortable for you and your family as it is beautiful. 

How do I assemble this bench?

The Beau Bench ships in three pieces, making it easy to assemble in minutes. Simply attach the legs to the bench top using the provided hardware.

How much weight can this bench hold?

This bench can hold a few hundred pounds without worry. Avoid leaning or tipping the bench in unexpected ways, as the bench is designed to sit flat on its legs for proper use.

This is a sitting bench and is not intended for use as a step stool.

How do I care for this bench?

Is this made in the USA?

Yes. We are a wood-focused manufacturer! We make our products from a combination of raw materials and sourced components (ex. metal hardware) directly in our manufacturing workshop, located in Watsonville, California.

For collaboration products, we always identify if we work with other independent craftspeople, manufacturing studios, and fellow product designers.

Can I order a sample?
