Healthier & comfortable cooking

If you've been cutting your meat, veggies, and fruits on plastic, we can tell you from personal experience, it’s life-changing to upgrade to an end-grain cutting board!

We’ve crafted these for years now, and our end-grain cutting boards still maintain a special place in our collection—the Grove, which features a pocket grip, and the Harvest, which has a fully flat bottom.

End-grain cutting boards are special because they're easier on your knives, allowing them to stay sharper for longer. Plus, moving away from plastic cutting boards means you'll reduce your intake of microplastics—it’s a win-win for cooking at home!

True Craftsmanship in the Kitchen

Our end-grain cutting boards offer the same quality of craftsmanship as our furniture pieces and align with our mission to create healthier products for the home. They’re a functional, heirloom-quality product that can help your family move away from plastic cutting boards (and never go back!).

End-grain boards take quite a bit of labor and material processing to create, with a worthwhile result. Each build starts with leftover boards and smaller wood offcuts from our furniture production. From there, we plan our boards digitally to ensure consistent, gorgeous patterns for each board. With the Grove Cutting Board, we cut pocket grips on the underside as a final touch to help make your board easier to carry around the kitchen.

With proper care, these boards will stay in excellent condition to last from home to home and generation to generation!

Can I actually cut on this board? "I would be too afraid to mark it up!"

Yes, chop away! It may be tempting to think that our checkerboard patterned boards are designed for chess or simply for serving. In fact, they are solid heirloom-style cutting boards! These are so solid that they can be refinished many times over, depending on how heavily you use your cutting board and your home's climate.

Some of our boards are made with Pocket Grips routed on the underside of the board. Others, like the Harvest Cutting Board, are made with flat surfaces on both top and bottom.

How can I maintain my cutting board?

Don’t be afraid to use your cutting board! It’s built to stand up to all of your kitchen prep. When you’re ready to clean up, wipe or hand-wash with warm (not hot!), soapy water, then wipe dry immediately. We always recommend using gentle, natural cleaning and care products. Let the board finish air drying on a rack or on its side so both the top and bottom get plenty of air flow.

We recommend reconditioning your board whenever it’s looking dry, which can depend on your frequency of usage, washing, and exposure to light. We include a tin of reconditioning wood wax with every purchase to get you started. Otherwise, you can use any natural, food-contact safe conditioning oil. Be sure to check the label of any product you use, as many store options tend to include chemicals that you’re better off without.

Do not:

  • Leave your board soaking in water
  • Clean your cutting board in the dishwasher

Can I put this cutting board in the dishwasher?

No, dishwashers can be too harsh on end-grain cutting boards, drying out the wood or causing warping. For proper care, stick with hand washing only.

What’s so special about end-grain cutting boards?

End-grain cutting boards are essentially a chef-quality product that anyone can use at home. When you use your knives on these types of cutting boards, the blade parts the boards’ fibers instead of slicing across them, which is much gentler on your knives. It also means the board “self-heals” as the fibers come together again, reducing the appearance of surface cutting scars.

Is this made in the USA?

Yes. We are a wood-focused manufacturer! We make our products from a combination of raw materials and sourced components (ex. metal hardware) directly in our manufacturing workshop, located in Watsonville, California.

Do you ship across the USA?

Yes. We ship orders nationwide, including Hawaii (where we were founded!).

The cutting board ships in one piece, with brass bumpers pre-installed on the bottom face.
