We’ve had our busiest year yet, and our Summer Open Studio was a great way to reflect and celebrate with our team, customers, family, and friends at our Santa Cruz showroom!
Our Summer Junior Design Associate, Jade Davidson, oversaw all of the planning and management, ensuring that the event met our goal of connecting with the community and honoring our accomplishments this year.
After working in the showroom this summer, Jade gathered some of the most common questions from visitors and customers, which were often about our process and operations. Often, visitors don’t realize our furniture is fully manufactured in-house, so the Open Studio was a great opportunity to shed more light on the connection between our workshop and showroom.
A custom display helped introduce guests to our background, team, and the tools and processes we use in our workshop. If you missed it and are curious to learn more, check out our Process page!
We also put up a fun bulletin board with some of our recent projects—highlighting further that we operate as much more than a retail store. This board helped bridge the gap between our shop and the custom furniture and design work we offer through JOHI Spaces. This board is also a great source of inspiration for potential projects!

As a small studio, it can be hard to break away from the day-to-day to plan events for our community, but we’re so grateful to have had this end-of-summer opportunity! It was a sweet way to celebrate both our team and customers’ dedication to the work we believe in.
