RECONDITIONING
Our cutting boards are finished in a final coat of Real Milk Paint's Wood Wax before they arrive to you. When refinishing your JOHI cutting boards with Wood Wax, ensure the surfaces of your board are clean and dry. Apply small amounts to worn areas as needed, with a clean cloth or blue paper towel. Buff with a clean cloth to blend newly applied wax to the rest of the surface.
Before lightly using the items coated with Wood Wax, be sure to wait for 5 to 7 days for initial curing. Keep in mind that Wood Wax by the Real Milk Paint Co. takes 15 to 30 days to fully cure, so plan your projects accordingly.
Cleaning surfaces treated with Wood Wax is easy. We recommend washing with mild cleaners, like hot water and dish soap, and avoiding acidic cleaners such as vinegar.
WOOD WAX STORAGE
Before or after use, store Wood Wax in a moderate-temperature environment. You can also store our wood butter in a refrigerator if you require a long-term storage solution.

small batch, small footprint
We produce our work in limited batches and on a made-to-order basis. In this approach, we give greater attention to each product’s lifecycle and its impact on our earth, from the day we source materials, to their refinishing, recycling, or decomposition.

domestic difference
Yep! We don't just design here in California. We make our work here too. That means we employ and work with the humans and businesses of our local area and broader US to support a stronger local economy.

we've pledged 1% of all sales to support nonprofit sustainability initiatives.
We started our business in Hāli'imaile, Hawai'i and are now based in Santa Cruz county, California. Our environments from mauka to makai have always been an important part of our lives. This commitment is just one way we choose to give back.
